Three Ways to Raise Money for Stained Glass Windows

Three Ways to Raise Money for Stained Glass Windows

Your church has decided on stained glass to enhance your worship space.  Your committee has identified a studio and design and you are ready to go.  Is paying for your stained glass the next big obstacle your church faces in the process?  Don’t worry.  Nowadays, there are many ways to raise money for your stained-glass windows.  Here are three suggestions:

  1. Fundraising Donations. There are many ways to raise money including grassroots projects such as bake sales and car washes. These types of campaigns can take a lot of time to raise the type of money needed for stained glass, but they get the whole congregation excited and involved. Another way to fundraise is to set up a GoFundMe account or another type of online fundraising. This is a great way to get the word out and raise money from people outside of your organization.  Have t-shirts or coffee mugs made with your stained-glass window designs on them and sell them online or offer them to anyone that gives above a certain monetary level.
  1. Window Dedications. Windows can be donated by an individual or by a family. Donations can be the dedication of windows in memory of loved ones using name plates attached to the front of the window. Single windows or sections of windows can be dedicated or donations can be applied to the whole project. This is a great way for multiple families to honor a patriarch or matriarch.
  1. Apply for a grant. There are many organizations that have partial or full funds available especially for restoring historic stained-glass windows. One place to start would be PreservationDirectory.com. Another avenue would be to check with your local historical society.

Start now. No matter where you are in the process, it’s never too early to start a fund to pay for your stained glass. These steps should start you out on the path to enjoying your new or restored worship space.
